Lost looking back – 4/6/04

If it weren’t for all those memories back then
I might suppose this life ain’t worth the breath
The days went on as long as I never went to sleep
and time was all the dreaming that we’d need

The sweetest smell of cigarettes and beer
The nights of endless laughter by the fire
The music from an open windowed car
was all we’d need for the best time on a Friday night so far

No one thought how easy it was
it just so happened everyone was there
Gathered in the street, no one seemed to care
Everyone was friends enough for us

So many nights I missed the chance to be
caught up in that gone reality
and what I’d do to feel alive again
Just to feel that timeless love of being free

Everybody’s lost in their own flame
and it’ll never be just like it used to be
Everyone was friends enough for us
and it’ll never be the same again to me
