Not a hammer too big – 12/26/00

The past follows you like a shadow
whose dark and cloudy form does not change
Not with the sun nor the setting one is in
When the past and present exchange their glances
and your mind dances despite the music they play
But you cannot dig too deep for the clay
in which to build your future on
One may choose their destiny
as a sculptor chooses the shape of the statue
If one ponders too hard upon the clay
and what it should appear to be
Then it is he who spends life stagnant at the potter’s wheel
